A simple funnel to grow your email list
Even nowadays, it is still very important to have a good solid email list to reach out to prospects and gain more customers.
Even if you own a small business, you should set up a simple funnel to grow your email list.
You might be asking “Well, how do I do that?”
You’re in the right place...
Getting people to sign up to your email list - The Bait
The most important thing you need to consider when setting up a simple email list funnel is how to get people to sign up.
You cannot simply send unsolicited emails or add people’s emails on your list – it’s illegal! Prospects and clients must opt in to receive your newsletter or promotional communications.
You need to give people a good reason to join your email list.
Offer a lot of value - people are increasingly reluctant to share their email address.
You could set up educational webinars, offer a pdf ebook, a PDF how-to guide or perhaps a video or audio mini-course.
The Funnel - Landing Page
Creating a registration page with some information about what’s inside the free item you’re offering, will convince more people to register. This is the first step in your funnel and requires the use of a landing page tool or the same feature on your website.
It can also help to add a timer on the page. Add a countdown and offer it only for Free for a few minutes. This will increase the number of people who register for it.
The Funnel - The Welcome Sequence
Creating a welcome sequence is very important. Once people download the freebie and accept to be on your list you need to make sure you send a warm up sequence.
The first emails you send will be automated - their goal is to give people a good idea of what kind of emails you send to your list. You also want to make sure that you let them know who you are, what you do and why you do it. This way people who are a bad fit will automatically jump off and you will be left with people who are genuinely interested in what you sell.
Keeping your list warm
Once the automated sequence has ended (often after 7 to 9 days) you want to make sure that you send emails every 1 or 2 weeks to keep your audience warm
This way when you have an offer or a sale/promotion, your list will be more responsive. If the list is warm with regular emails, they will click more and open more emails. So you will sell more.
Retargeting your email list using social media ads
Email marketing open rates have decreased however. As people receive more and more emails, they tend to open less and less. Today you can use a new strategy to make sure people on your list see your offers. You can export your email addresses and retarget them by using social media ads.
You can upload your email contacts list to Facebook, and Twitter and retarget these people with very specific ads for products and services that you know they are interested in.
